Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts. In 2006, Heath & Company was engaged to implement labor management systems at six Four Seasons hotels, including the Four Seasons Atlanta, Four Seasons Philadelphia, Four Seasons Aviara, Carlsbad, CA, Four Seasons Los Angeles, Four Seasons Washington, DC and the brand new Four Seasons Westlake Village. Using Heath & Company's unique train the trainer program these properties are simultaneously enhancing their customer experience and improving productivity. As the direct result of the success of these installations Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts elected to implement the Heath & Company labor management system at all their North American properties in 2008 and in Europe in 2009.
Strategic Hotels & Resorts, Chicago, Illinois. Concerned about the profitability of their thirty upper upscale and luxury hotels, top executives of this major hotel investment company have called upon Heath & Company to review and analyze labor management systems at several of their most prestigious properties. To date, nine studies have been completed at Strategic Hotel Capital owned properties including, the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, Hyatt Regency San Francisco, Marriott New York Eastside, Hyatt Regency New Orleans, Marriott's Lincolnshire Resort and Hyatt Regency LaJolla with significant bottom line improvement in each instance. The Heath & Company team has been engaged as ongoing permanent members of the asset management teams for the Loews Santa Monica Beach Resort, InterContinental Miami, The Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, InterContinental Chicago, Hyatt Regency LaJolla, The Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Band and the Four Seasons Washington.
Loews Hotels & Resorts. Recognizing the changing business climate in the hospitality industry, top management of this prestigious luxury hotel chain called upon Heath & Company to provide assistance in developing a state-of-the-art program for managing and controlling labor costs. Following a successful pilot implementation was commissioned at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel with resultant achieved savings averaging approximately $50,000 monthly. Loews Hotels subsequently engaged Heath & Company to coordinate the implementation of a comprehensive, system-wide labor management initiative. Heath & Company was asked to: 1) develop a standardized annual labor budgeting module predicated on the use of variable labor standards; 2) execute a comprehensive labor standards training workshops for all of the company's hotel controllers; and 3) provide on-site training in the development and use of custom labor standards for each property.
HEI Hospitality / Merritt Hospitality LLC. Equally concerned about simultaneously achieving high levels of guest satisfaction and superior returns on investment, this owner/operator of approximately twenty-five three- and four-star hotels engaged Heath & Company to implement a system-wide labor management initiative across its portfolio. System components include business volume forecasting, staffing guides, scheduling, time & attendance and management reporting.
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, LLC. Desiring to upgrade its systems for managing and controlling labor costs, this two-time winner of the Malcolm Baldrich National Quality Award and renowned operator of luxury hotels called upon Heath & Company for assistance. Ritz-Carlton's objective was to provide just the right amount of labor to meet and exceed customer expectations while achieving profitability targets for its hotel owners. Heath & Company was tasked with developing labor management training materials for system-wide use to train executives and line managers how to develop and use labor standards to match employee hours to expected customer volume. In addition, Ritz-Carlton selected Heath & Company's forecasting tool as a company standard for projecting business volume for food, beverage and ancillary areas.
Host Marriott. Seeking to increase the profitability of its extensive portfolio of hotels, Host Marriott is increasingly focused on employee productivity and insuring that labor hours are adjusted to match changes in business volume. Host Marriott commissioned Heath & Company to conduct in-depth labor studies at more than twenty-five of its hotels for analysis since 2000. These projects, which included Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons and Hyatt hotels resulted in savings by Host Marriott's own tally of $7 to $8 for every dollar invested.
Meristar Hospitality Corporation. Wanting to offer high levels of customer service for an optimal cost at the hotels within its portfolio, this major owner of mid-market hotels engaged Heath & Company to review labor management practices at a number of its properties managed by its operator partner Interstate Hotels & Resorts. Successful pilot engagements were conducted at Meristar's Crowne Plaza O'Hare Airport Hotel and the DoubleTree Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida and in later at the Seelbach Hilton Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. Meristar subsequently engaged Heath & Company to employ its unique train the trainer program and to implement labor management systems at ten of its hotels.
Maritz, Wolff & Co. Understanding that a fresh, informed perspective can add significant value to hotel assets, this owner of a number of Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton flagged assets, as well as the prestigious Rosewood brand has opted to bring in Heath & Company to aid on-site management in developing new ways to improve service and achieve savings. Recent projects include labor management related assignments at The Four Seasons Toronto, The Four Seasons Houston, New York Carlyle Hotel and Four Seasons Aviara.
CSM Lodging - St. Paul, MN. This operator of 30 limited service hotels wanted to implement a labor management system that: 1) was standardized throughout the company, 2) insured the adjustment of labor hours to different levels of volume, and 3) would provide detailed labor information at both the property and the corporate office level. The CSM team called upon Heath & Company to develop a standardized format for producing a weekly business volume forecast for each hotel and to train its senior managers to develop labor standards and effectively use a labor management system to control labor costs. The objective was not to reduce staff, but to have just the right amount to provide high quality service.
Automatic Data Processing, (ADP). This Fortune 400, data processing titan is also the owner and developer of TimeSaver® the full-service hotel industry's most widely used time and attendance system. TimeSaver®'s most popular feature is its employee productivity management component or labor standards module. Recognizing Heath & Company's pre-eminence in the field of hotel labor management, ADP commissioned Heath & Company to train client hotels on the principles of labor management and the use of the TimeSaver® labor standards module. Between 1999 and 2007, the Heath & Company team trained personnel from more than 150 properties for ADP, including Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, Starwood, Hilton, InterContinental, Meristar and Loews hotels.
